The contributions by Professor Dr. Tamim Rahim, Director of the Center for Spinal Surgery at GPR Klinikum, play a particularly important role. He is responsible for key chapters on cervical spinal stenosis, cervical myelopathy, and ossifying posterior longitudinal ligament disease (OPLL), as well as the associated surgical treatment options. His explanations are characterized by a clear structure and high practical applicability, combining scientific evidence with many years of clinical experience.
“Cervical myelopathy is one of the most common causes of progressive neurological deterioration in older adults. Early diagnosis and a well-chosen surgical approach are crucial for the functional outcome,” explains Professor Dr. Rahim. “With our contributions, we aim to provide colleagues with a reliable foundation for well-informed treatment decisions.”
Given the ever-growing body of medical knowledge and the high demands of daily clinical practice, rapid access to quality-assured information is becoming increasingly important. Both DWG publications are therefore deliberately interdisciplinary in nature and support safe and efficient patient care—in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
The GPR management also commends the publication. “These two works synthesize the expertise of the German Spine Society with a level of quality never before achieved,” explains GPR Managing Director Achim Neyer. “We are particularly pleased with the significant contribution of Professor Rahim, whose depth of expertise greatly enriches the publications.”
“Spine Reference” and “Spine Checklist” thus make an important contribution to education and continuing education as well as to clinical decision-making and underscore the DWG’s commitment to quality and its interdisciplinary approach.
