Medical partnerships

Mainz University Medical Center

The GPR Clinic serves as an academic teaching hospital for the clinics of Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. For medical students, the transition from the university lecture hall to the patient’s bedside is one of the most important steps on the demanding path to becoming a fully trained physician. Therefore, all prospective physicians must complete a “Practical Year” (PJ) during their final year of study. Every year, the GPR Health and Care Center in Rüsselsheim welcomes 28 so-called PJ students to the GPR Clinic, who must earn their stripes in clinical practice over the course of a year in order to successfully complete their studies. All PJ students are enrolled at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, which collaborates with the GPR Health and Care Center Rüsselsheim in various areas. For quite some time now, students from Mainz have been successfully prepared for the realities of medical practice in Rüsselsheim.

Further collaborations with Mainz University Medical Center:

  • Cooperation agreement between the Department of Pathology and the University Medical Center Mainz
  • Cooperation in the field of neurosurgery regarding stroke treatment with the University Medical Center Mainz and within the framework of the Regional Trauma Center
  • Framework agreement with Mainz University Medical Center for conducting studies in internal medicine
  • Collaboration on specific issues between the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the GPR Clinic and the Department of Orthopedics at Mainz University Medical Center

University Hospital of Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main

In March 2011, a cooperation agreement was signed between the GPR Clinic and the University Hospital of Frankfurt am Main regarding advanced training for specialized nurses in intensive care and anesthesia.

Groß-Gerau District Hospital

In February 2011, a joint vascular center was established. The partnership between the two hospitals was developed due to the different treatment options available in the field of vascular medicine. Patients requiring surgical or minimally invasive procedures are operated on exclusively at the GPR Clinic by a specialized vascular surgeon from Dr. Jaroslaw Nakonieczny’s team. Patients who are to undergo conservative therapy are treated at the Groß-Gerau District Hospital.

The Groß-Gerau District Hospital and the GPR Clinic conduct joint interdisciplinary case conferences (vascular conferences) as part of the vascular center. These case conferences typically take place every two weeks, but can be held more frequently if necessary. Doctors from the Department of Angiology at the Groß-Gerau District Hospital participate in the case conferences. The GPR Clinic is represented by doctors from the Institute of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine and the Department of Vascular Surgery.

As a member of the CLINOTEL Network, we collaborate with other public and non-profit hospitals and clinics throughout Germany. In the event of a hospital stay, we want you to know that you are well cared for and treated to the highest medical standards. To ensure that the standard of excellence is met, all CLINOTEL hospitals are constantly working toward the shared goal of continuously improving medical care for patients.

CLINOTEL regularly publishes treatment outcomes for many conditions (quality results)—including those from our hospital. This transparency regarding our treatment outcomes, which goes far beyond legal requirements, is intended to demonstrate how important the quality of our care is to us.
