Dear Patients,

Elderly, disabled, and vulnerable individuals often face minor or even major challenges on the day of their hospital discharge and in the days that follow. This is especially true when support from family members is not available.

Volunteers make it possible

The “Patient Support” volunteer program is supported by local organizations and communities. The project enables most patients at GPR Klinikum Rüsselsheim to access assistance as needed. The location where the assistance is provided is the determining factor.

Our goal is not to discharge patients into their homes feeling helpless, but to connect them with volunteer helpers.

What does the support entail?

Together with the person seeking help, the volunteers prepare for discharge during a visit to the hospital and, if requested, accompany them on the way home.

Depending on the need, they handle paperwork, initial shopping, doctor and pharmacy visits, or provide necessary assistance within the home.

Our assistance is free of charge for you!

To arrange patient accompaniment, please speak with your assigned case manager on the ward. She will be happy to assist you.
