Nephrology and hemodialysis
Under the supervision of our nephrologist, Senior Physician Dr. Gerhard Rupprecht, we care for patients with kidney disease. A dialysis unit with eight treatment stations is available.

Focal points of treatment
- Diagnosis and Treatment of Impaired Kidney Function
- Hemodialysis and hemodiafiltration procedures
- Removal of narrowings in the renal arteries using stents
Nephrology
Kidney diseases often go unnoticed until they lead to end-stage renal failure. Common causes include diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure, as well as inflammatory kidney diseases. The focus of our work is on the early detection of impaired kidney function and the treatment of its causes. This often allows us to prevent or slow the progression of kidney disease. We offer a full range of diagnostic options for acute and chronic kidney diseases, including kidney biopsy. In addition, we assess for heart and vascular diseases, which often coexist with kidney disease.
Hemodialysis
If end-stage renal failure has ultimately set in, careful planning of renal replacement therapy is necessary, which we discuss together with the patient. The most commonly used form of renal replacement therapy today is hemodialysis, often referred to as “blood washing.” Our eight dialysis stations provide patients with modern hemodialysis therapy:
- Three rooms, each with two dialysis stations
- Two isolation rooms, each with one dialysis station
- Two shifts (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: morning and evening; Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday: morning only)
- Care for inpatients and day patients
- Monitoring
- Hemodialysis and hemodiafiltration procedures
- Radio and television (with headphones) are available
- Free choice of menu and personalized nutritional counseling
Arterial hypertension
Arterial hypertension, or “high blood pressure,” is one of the most significant risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Blood pressure management based on the latest medical findings is therefore one of the most important preventive measures in this area, and we implement it accordingly. Since, in rare cases, high blood pressure is caused by diseases of the kidneys and renal vessels, it is essential to identify and treat these conditions. We use modern ultrasound technology to detect underlying narrowings of the renal arteries and treat them using catheter and stent technology.
