Patient admission

Registration for inpatient hospitalization

Patient Admission via the Surgical Preparation Unit

If you are coming to our hospital for surgery—and are NOT being admitted as an EMERGENCY—you will have a pre-surgery preparation appointment before the start of your hospital stay.

  • This appointment will take approximately 3.5 to 4 hours.
  • All necessary preparations, such as blood draws, ECG, etc., will be performed here.
  • A preoperative consultation will be conducted by a medical staff member from the relevant department.
  • This will be followed by a consultation regarding anesthesia with a medical staff member from the Department of Anesthesiology.
  • This appointment also gives you the opportunity to clarify any questions you may have in advance.

Operating Room Preparation Office Hours

Monday through Thursday
from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Friday
from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

For admission, we require:

  • Your electronic health card
  • Your referral form
  • Documents from previous examinations (if available)

Location of the Preoperative Preparation Area

On the day of your preoperative appointment, please proceed to Level 1, toward the Emergency Department. From there, follow the green floor markings and the signs for “Preoperative Preparation.” At the end of the corridor, you will find a ticket machine where you can take a number. This number will be displayed on a screen in the area as soon as it is your turn.

Counter E is located across from the X-ray department. This is where your patient registration begins. We ask for your understanding if, despite optimized processes, there may be longer wait times. After your pre-operative preparation appointment is complete, you may return home.

Patient Admission via Case Management

Another option for (scheduled) patient admission at our facility is handled by our Case Management staff. They coordinate immediate (same-day) inpatient admission within the respective clinic. You will be informed in advance by phone regarding the specific procedure on your admission day. This form of admission is used in selected (elective) cases.

Optional Services

As part of your admission, you may also choose to avail yourself of various optional services (e.g., accommodation in a single room, comfort room, treatment by the chief physician, etc.). Medical treatment is not limited to a single physician (e.g., the surgeon) but always extends to all physicians involved in your care.

The staff in our Patient Admissions department (Surgical Preparation or Case Management) will be happy to provide you with further details. If you wish to change your elective services during your stay, please contact only these staff members.

Patient Administration

Patient Administration (Level 1, behind Elevator A, Room 21.005) handles, among other things, the formalities for the Registry Office in the event ofa child’s birth or a death.

Patient Administration Office Hours

Monday through Friday
from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Patient Administration can restrict access to information regarding inpatient treatment, so that a third party calling or visiting the information desk will not learn that you are currently receiving inpatient care at our facility.

The Patient Administration Office also handles:

  • Issuance of certificates
  • Providing information about costs
  • Payment of the copayment

Costs of your hospital stay

Unlike treatments at a private practice, hospital treatment must be reported directly to the health insurance provider. The Patient Administration Office handles this reporting. It also informs the health insurance provider of the length of the patient’s inpatient stay. The patient’s copayment—which the patient must pay—of 10.00 euros per day for a maximum of 28 days per year is collected here and forwarded to the health insurance provider.

The copayment must be paid on the day of discharge before leaving the hospital at the Patient Administration office (Level 1, Counters B and C).
