Whether in highly complex medical situations at the GPR Clinic or in providing long-term support and care at the GPR senior residence “Haus am Ostpark”—nurses are the backbone of patient care. They offer security, compassion, and guidance during often challenging life stages.

They are the ones who make the difference and save lives,” emphasizes GPR Director of Nursing Benno Schanz. “Especially in times of growing demands, it is our commitment to offer them the best possible working conditions and career prospects.”
Managing Director Achim Neyer also underscores the central importance of nursing for the future of the healthcare system: “The quality of our care stands or falls with the strength of our nursing staff. Nurses are an indispensable piece of the puzzle in our healthcare system—they hold the system together and make it possible in the first place. That is why we are making targeted investments in training, professional development, and modern working conditions. Our goal is to strengthen nursing in the long term and raise its profile as an attractive profession.”
A special focus is placed on training new nursing staff. The GPR is one of the region’s leading training centers in the field of nursing and offers young people a wide range of entry-level opportunities in healthcare professions. Each year, the GPR Clinic offers 30 training positions for registered nurses and 30 positions for nursing assistants. This program is supplemented by nine training positions in geriatric care at the “Haus am Ostpark” senior residence. In addition, the GPR offers numerous other training and study opportunities in the healthcare sector.
The modern GPR Vocational School for Nursing Professions, with its tradition spanning over 60 years, combines theoretical learning with intensive practical training: More than 2,500 hours of practical assignments and over 2,100 hours of classroom instruction comprehensively prepare trainees for their profession.
“We are consciously investing in the next generation of nursing professionals—because they are our future. Anyone who chooses to train with us is choosing a profession with purpose, prospects, and real opportunities for growth,” said Schanz.
