“This support for the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine has become a cherished tradition for our Opel alumni get-together, one that we’d like to continue. Unfortunately, the number of active members has declined in recent years due to age, but we’re still very proud to be able to keep this fundraising effort going,” said Jochen Thomas at the donation presentation.
The regulars’ table has been donating to “fiPs” for 13 years now. As always, the donation amount was collected last year during the regular meetings of the former “Opel employees” from the development department. At each meeting, the regulars had to put a small contribution into the donation piggy bank. Last year, this raised a total of 500 euros. Since 2014, the “Blitz-Lichter” chassis regulars’ table has been able to contribute a total of 3,965 euros to the “fiPs” support association in this way.
“Such a commitment over such a long period of time is, of course, very impressive and helps us enormously, because medical equipment is very expensive and many purchases and improvements are difficult to realize without donations. That is why we are always grateful for all donations,” said Dr. Michael Polz, senior attending physician at the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and secretary of fiPs.
