Clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine receives donation of 5,500 euros from the carnival society of Kreissparkasse Groß-Gerau

This year, the "fifth season" not only brought cheerfulness and good humor, but also another donation for the Clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine from the carnival guild. On Thursday (March 12), the current prince and princess of the Kreissparkasse Carnival Society, Prince Thomas I and Princess Claudia III, visited the GPR Clinic and once again presented a generous donation of 5,500 euros and a bag full of cuddly toys to Dr. Michael Polz, senior consultant at the Clinic for Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine. The princely couple was accompanied by Karl Norbert Merz, Chairman of the Karnevalgesellschaft von 78/79 e.V. of the Kreissparkasse Groß-Gerau and the second Chairman Christian Brückmann.

“At our Sparkasse Carnival event on February 6, the Zaster Sisters—Anita Hedderich and Eva-Maria Germann—collected donations from the guests. In the days that followed, it was still possible to donate via QR code, a feature that was eagerly utilized. The idea, born in 1992, of combining cheerfulness with a good cause is still very much alive,” said Karl-Norbert Merz.

The charitable commitment of the carnival in the Mainspitze region has a long tradition; it began in 1992 with the first “Foolish General Assembly,” which was supported for 15 years by a total of 12 clubs. After this traditional event came to an end, the Kreissparkasse Carnival Society continued the fundraising for the good cause. Since 1992, over 95,000 euros have been raised and donated to the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the GPR Clinic.

Dr. Michael Polz was delighted with the once again substantial donation amount, which was presented this week: “Many purchases and improvements are difficult to realize without donations, so we are naturally very pleased and are always grateful for every donation and the commitment of everyone involved. This enormous amount raised over the past 31 years is very impressive and helps maintain the quality of care for our young patients at the GPR Clinic at a very high level.”
