The causes of incontinence are varied and range from age-related changes to medical conditions and weakened muscle structures. A common cause of involuntary urine leakage is a dysfunction of the sphincter muscle, which is part of the pelvic floor. In such cases, targeted pelvic floor exercises can be an effective way to alleviate or even resolve the symptoms.
“Many patients are unaware that help is available to them,” explains Dr. Marcus Benz, Senior Attending Physician at the Department of Urology, Pediatric Urology, and Oncological Urology, and Director of the Continence and Pelvic Floor Center at GPR Klinikum. “Being open about the issue is the first step toward initiating appropriate therapies and sustainably improving quality of life.”
The Continence and Pelvic Floor Center at GPR Klinikum offers those affected comprehensive diagnostics and individually tailored treatment options. The goal is to precisely identify the causes of incontinence and to develop appropriate treatment strategies together with the patients.
Dr. Marcus Benz consults with patients during the incontinence clinic every Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Here, they can learn everything about established as well as new and innovative treatment methods. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 06142 88-1362. Those affected can also contact Dr. Marcus Benz via email (kontinenz@GP-Ruesselsheim.de) to learn about non-surgical and surgical treatment options.
“The advantage for email users is that they can gather information in advance without having to make direct contact right away. Since bladder and bowel incontinence is a very sensitive topic for many patients, this approach helps alleviate their initial hesitation before making contact,” explains Dr. Marcus Benz.
