As a token of appreciation, Deputy Director Linda Wagner presented the triple anniversary celebrant with a bouquet of flowers and a gift certificate for his favorite restaurant, “Weinhaus Schaab-Louis.”
For ten years now, Egon Bornwasser has been coming to the senior residence regularly to organize the “Remembrance Roundtable” with great passion, preparation, and personal dedication. In doing so, he is far more than just an organizer: with his ideas and inspiration, he creates a space where memories are evoked, stories are told, and shared experiences are discussed. The Memory Roundtable not only fosters a sense of community but also tangibly contributes to the well-being of the participating residents.
A special hallmark of the gatherings are the numerous pictures and photographs of Rüsselsheim and the surrounding area that Egon Bornwasser has brought along over the years. Many of them were taken with his own camera. With a trained eye and a keen sense for special moments, he has captured scenes, places, and moments that evoke memories and spark conversations. The photographs invite storytelling, bring the past to life, and often elicit laughter, wonder, or quiet emotion.
The fact that the “Remembrance Roundtable” is now taking place for the 60th time underscores its high standing within the senior residence. For many residents, it is a fixed date on the calendar that provides structure to daily life and facilitates encounters on equal footing. The open and appreciative atmosphere that Egon Bornwasser consistently creates makes every gathering something special.
Egon Bornwasser’s 90th birthday impressively rounds off this extraordinary anniversary year. His dedication, his openness, and his enthusiasm for people and their stories impressively demonstrate that a zest for life, curiosity, and energy know no age.
Facility Director Eilert Kuhlmann pays tribute to the honoree’s dedication with these personal words: “Mr. Bornwasser gives our residents far more than just fond memories—he gives them connection, appreciation, and a strong sense of community. We thank him from the bottom of our hearts for this extraordinary dedication, for ten years of the Memory Roundtable, and for his impressive life’s work.”
