FOR RUSH READERS:

Herniamed is an internet-based quality study covering inguinal hernias, umbilical hernias, incisional hernias, epigastric hernias, parastomal hernias, and hiatal hernias.

DETAILED INFORMATION:

The Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care requires the surgical sector to implement cross-sectoral quality assurance with a focus on outcome quality.

Through the joint registries of the Herniamed study, as many hernia surgeries as possible—from both hospitals and private practices—are to be prospectively recorded.

Its goal is to research and optimize the quality of all hernia surgery through the continuous development of new mesh products and fixation techniques, as well as frequently updated surgical procedures.
